Catch Up Funding
The Government has recognised that “Children and young people across the country have experienced unprecedented disruption to their education as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19)" and have allocated funding to address this.
At Bishop William Ward, we will receive £14,800.
The funding can be used for specific activities to support pupils to catch up for lost teaching during lockdown and schools have the flexibility to spend this funding in the best way for their cohort and circumstances.
Following a period of assessment in September 2020 and discussions between the headteacher, SENCO and class teachers, pupils' needs were identified.
From October, a programme of tuition sessions was put in place for individuals and small groups. In the vast majority of cases, this tuition is being delivered by the children's class teachers (the school has a number of part-time teachers who are delivering the sessions on their days off), so the children are familiar with the tutor and the tutor knows them well.
The impact of this tution will be monitored in regular progress meetings, held with class teachers, the headteacher and the SENCO.
